Engineering College

In September 2007, the Specialist Schools and Academy Trust awarded Fazakerley High School specialist engineering status.

Gone are the days of oily rags and blue overalls. Modern engineering is a high-tech and highly skilled career option. Examples include marine engineering, aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering.

At Fazakerley High School, we endeavour to provide pupils with great opportunities in school and enrichment activities out of school hours which allow them to appreciate our engineering ethos.

The engineering and DT department is equipped with state of the art software and machinery identical to what is used in industry and pupils have access to this from year 7. Staff are skilled, motivated and enjoy engineering which assist in ensuring the best results from our pupils.

Since September 2008, Fazakerley High School was one of the first schools in the country to offer the new engineering diploma. It has been extremely successful with the school being recognised nationally for its excellent work.

The school has always made use of local and regional links. We work very hard with our partner primary schools helping them raise attainment in DT, maths and science. Additionally, Scottish Power and Jaguar Land Rover have always worked closely with staff and pupils offering pupils the opportunity to step into the world of cutting edge engineering in industry.

Fazakerley High School won the Rolls-Royce engineering award for 2009/2010. Each year the award is presented to the school that can demonstrate outstanding achievement in sustainable engineering and manufacturing, including innovative teaching methods, extra-curricular activities and examination results. We are very proud of this achievement.
